Ownership

The CLCGB is a charity registered with the Charities Commission (registered number 276821), and a company limited by guarantee (company number 139596).  We therefore have no owners or shareholders to take any money out of the business.  There are seven trustees or sponsors who have the legal responsibility for the business.  There are also a number of directors in addition to the Brigade Council made up of elected and non-elected members and staff.  Details of roles and responsibilities are detailed in the Memorandum of Association and the Articles of Association.

Aims and Objectives

The stated aim of the CLCGB is to "Extend the Kingdom of Christ amongst lads and girls and to encourage faithful membership of the Church if England or other Episcopal Church in communion with the Church of England."  To support this, a number of slightly more specific aims are included in the CLCGB Rules:-

Establish friendships between young people and adults in a caring and safe environment;

Help young peole and children to grow in confidence, develop their skills and abilities, and work together and show care and concern for others;

Encourage young people and children to explore their spirituality and respond to the Christian failth; and

Encourage the development of moral values and respect for the environment.

Organisation

The CLCGB is an organisation in several different companies.  However, the details on this web-site refer primarily to operations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.  Staff on the contacts page work at St Martins' House : the CLCGB National Headquarters.  All national developments are co-ordinated through the staff at NHQ.  All traditional functional roles are undertaken by them: marketing, finance, HR and training in particular.
