“It feels nice to be part of a group who help each other and are friendly. It makes me feel special.”

Maddison, aged 10.

What do the clergy think?

“I have been involved with CLCGB since 1969 and have seen how precious it was and what a difference it made in my Parish, All Saints & Martyrs Langley, which had a huge Company. It brings what young people need to young people, it gives them friendship, it gives them fellowship and fun."

Bishop Jack Nichols

St Crispin's Band

font size

Saturday 14th May saw St Crispin’s Church Lads & Church Girls Brigade Band debut at Hinckley Leisure Centre in the C.L.C.G.B’s National Band Competition.  We were entered in the lowest of low starter class section but after weeks and weeks of hard work and commitment we were able to perform to a very high standard and achieved a Grade Silver Certificate.  On closer inspection of the reports we also learned that out of the bands competing in our class, we had come first in percussion (drums), first in mallets (glocks) and also first in the uniform inspection.  We also scored enough points to reach the dizzy heights of 4th overall in the uniform section - out of 13 bands across all 4 classes.  So we came away a very happy company, and the officers and leaders very proud of our young members, who were able to demonstrate that not all young people are wasting their childhoods hanging around making trouble.

We now look forward to a further year of hard practice before we enter next year’s competition, this time competing in the novice section. If any young people in the area want to come along and try their hand at playing various instruments then they would be most welcome. This year we would also like to ask if any businesses in the Braunstone area would like to help sponsor our group to help us replace some of our older equipment and purchase some more uniforms.

For any enquiries regarding New members, Sponsorship or Band Bookings please contact Paul on 07799 068039 / 01455 848309.

Our performance can be seen on ‘youtube’ by clicking here.
