Santander donation to Prestatyn North Wales camp
BY DONATION FROM THE SANTANDER FOUNDATION
Church Lads & Church Girls’ Brigade Liverpool & Chester has received £3,100 to fund attendance at a weeklong summer camp for 10 children and 5 young leaders from inner city areas of Liverpool and Chester. The camps held in Prestatyn, North Wales
The donation was provided by the Santander Foundation, which offers Discovery Grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities.
The Church Lads' and Church Girls' Brigade (CLCGB), is The Anglican Churches own uniformed youth organisation. The CLCGB has a proud history and tradition of service to others and in 2016 will celebrate its 125th Anniversary. It welcomes all children and young people irrespective of their faith or whether they have any faith at all.
Today’s modern CLCGB has over 350 active groups with over 3,000 members supported by an exceptional team of over 400 volunteers who contribute many hours of volunteering time creating a caring and safe environment ensuring that our members are role models and ambassadors for their peers and their community.
The grant will enable us to take 10 children and 5 young leaders to attend our Annual Summer Camp which is held at Prestatyn North Wales. Funding covered all travel, food, activities and visits during camp. Many of the children and young people and families we work with cannot afford any form of summer holiday, so for those who want to attend they can do so without the financial worries.
Audrey Simm Chief Executive from the Church Lads’ and Girl’s Brigade said: “Year on year we have more families coming to us for financial support so they can take part in our programmes activities and camps. Whilst we try to meet every request it is becoming more difficult. This grant from the Santander Foundation has made a really big difference for 15 children and young people Thank you Santander”.
Amy Slack, Manager at the Santander Foundation said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Church Lads & Church Girls’ Brigade Liverpool & Chester and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
