NCVYS young facilitators
Young Facilitators recruited to work on national project
The National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) have offered Nine young people as Young Facilitators across England a part-time, paid, 15-month contract to continue the development of a nationwide project for young people.
The NCVYS Young Partners project, funded by BIG Lottery, aims to expand positive opportunities for young people across England, helping them gain new skills by providing them with unique opportunities and the chance to receive accredited training, work experience and mentoring support.
The Young Facilitators aged 16 to 25 will promote, develop and sustain youth participation within NCVYS by supporting NCVYS’s national youth forum, ENVOY and marketing all aspects to the project by providing opportunities for young people within their region, facilitating and hosting regional workshops and recruiting young people to get involved.
To support them with their job roles, each Young Facilitator will receive accredited training in many different areas including public speaking, events management, communications and leadership training.
This is the fourth year the post has been in operation, with over 20 young people gaining valuable experience which they can use for future employment. The Facilitators are managed and supported by NCVYS Development Officers Keji Okeowo and Sarah Hadley.
Susanne Rauprich, Chief Executive at NCVYS said, “The Young Partners Project has been running for Four years now and each year we have provided such a unique, flexible and paid opportunity to young people across the UK which has ultimately developed and supported their personal and professional development. Not only do they gain experience in working for a national charitable organisation, they come away with accredited training, increased independence and a range of skills including event management, marketing, youth participation and computer and administration skills. We are very proud and pleased of the development of the project so far and look forward to working with the new team for 2013.”
