Ownership
The CLCGB is a charity registered with the Charities Commission (registered number 276821), and a company limited by guarantee (company number 1395966). It therefore has no owners or shareholders to take any money out of the business. The trustees have the legal responsibility for the company. There are also a number of directors in addition to the Brigade Council made up of elected and non-elected members and staff. Roles and responsibilities are detailed in the Memorandum of Association and the Articles of Association.
Aims and Objectives
The stated aim of the CLCGB is to “Extend the Kingdom of Christ, and encourage faithful membership of the Church”.
To achieve this, the CLCGB:
- is open to children and young people of all faiths and none
- enables children and young people to enjoy fun, faith and friendship whilst aiding their social and moral development
- allows children and young people to grow in confidence, develop their skills and abilities, teaches them the importance of teamwork, and helps them show care and concern for others, their communities, and their environment
- creates a caring and safe environment for children and young people under the guidance of positive, caring, and supportive adult role models
- encourages children and young people to explore their spirituality and respond to the Christian faith.
Organisation
The CLCGB is an organisation in several different countries around the World. However, the details on this web-site refer primarily to operations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Staff on the contacts page work at St Martins’ House : the CLCGB National Headquarters. All national developments are co-ordinated through the staff at NHQ. All traditional functional roles are undertaken by them: marketing, finance, HR and training in particular.
